Remind for student/parent communication
Remind is a tool that I love to use to communicate with my students and parents outside of school. It allows me to send quick reminders, information, and documents right to their phones via text, push notification, or email anywhere and anytime. I use this mostly with my extra curricular groups to send rehearsal and concert reminders or to alert of last minute schedule changes due to weather or other circumstances. Students and parents can respond to my messages using the chat feature allowing them to reach me at anytime without anyone needing to exchange personal information. I serve as the RCE (Remind Connected Educator) for my school district helping my colleagues learn and implement the system into their own classrooms and activities. |

Teacher Blog
My teacher blog serves as a reflection tool to curate my thoughts and ideas and present them in a public platform. Reflection is a large portion of my growth as a teacher and having a place in which to reflect helps me to be the best educator I can as well as helping others who may be implementing some of the same ideas into their own classrooms. As it grows, I hope to be able to connect with other music educators utilizing technology in secondary music classrooms.

Twitter PLC (Professional Learning Community)
Twitter has been an excellent resource for me to continue to develop professionally in an informal atmosphere. I participate regularly in Twitter chats such as #edtechchat and #musedchat and have developed a community of people with which I can express frustrations, explore new and exciting ideas, and work together to solve problems. It has given me a much wider view of my field, connecting with educators from all over the country. The image to the left is a promotional ad for a Twitter chat I hosted. It was met with a small audience, but I think there would be interest if I continued to promote. |
